When is the parade?
Sunday, November 20, 2022
When does the parade begin?
5:30 pm - after the Fireworks
What is the parade route?
Along King Ave. West, in the Village of Newcastle, starting at Fosterbrooke Long Term Care Home, heading east to the corner of Brookhouse and Arthur St.
Where can spectators park?
King Ave. and roads connecting to it, from Ruddell Rd. to Brookhouse/Arthur will be CLOSED off. Parking is limited in some areas, so please arrive early to get your spot.
Will the parade be cancelled due to weather?
No. The parade runs in snow or rain. Please dress according to the weather.
Is there a Food drive?
Yes. Donations are collected along the parade route by the Newcastle Hockey Team, with the use of grocery carts.
How can spectators support the parade?
By purchasing a parade button or giving a cash donation.
How can i volunteer?
Click on the Volunteer tab at the top of this website or email us at newcastlesantaparade@gmail.com Adult volunteers are needed for the committee and the day of the parade. High school students can earn community service hours. Please bring your form.
How can i register a float or group in the parade?
Please use the form found under the application tab on this website to submit your entry.
where is the best place to watch the parade?
King Ave, downtown from Baldwin/North Street to Brookhouse Arthur St. Please stay on the sidewalk for your safety.
Where is the staging area for participants?
King Ave W. from Rudell Road to Fosterbrooke Long Term Care Home, at the top of the hill.
Where can i drop off participants?
Check with your group leader as to where and when to arrive. NO TRAFFIC is allowed past Rudell Road on King Ave W, in the staging area.
When should floats arrive at the staging area?
Floats should be in position by 4:15pm. All other participants should arrive by 4:45pm.
should i bring letters for santa?
Yes.
are vendors allowed at the parade?
No.
why are vehicles with advertising decals not allowed in the parade?
The parade is for the children and adults of the community. It does not advertise a company or group. Entries put time, thought and creativity into their designs to incorporate a Christmas theme. The only undecorated vehicles are emergency and police units.
I am a participant. where do i go?
Check with your group leader for your parade number and any information.
where do parade participants exit?
Group leaders will have that information. A= exit north up Arthur Street, B = exit south down Brookhouse Street, K = exit straight ahead east along King. Ave.
Where are the bathroom facilities?
At the staging area near the bus shelters, Newcastle Community Town Hall, open businesses, Diane Hamre Recreation Centre
Is there a cost to participate?
No, but donations are needed to keep the parade continuing.
Do i need liability insurance?
The parade route is covered by the Municipality of Clarington's insurance policy. Otherwise please check with your personal vehicle insurance provider.
